Thursday, May 19th, 10 am to 11:30 am
Class instructor: Humlao Evans
Instructor Bio:
Humlao Evans is an artist of Micronesian heritage working in movement studies, poetry, installation, video, and performance. With dreams of a more just future, they make work that contends with the political histories and inherited violence our bodies carry while honoring both ancestral and contemporary lineages. Humlao’’s work questions whether and how embodied healing practices, anti-colonial storytelling, and political education can liberate and de-condition both memory, body, and the entanglements with identity and belonging.
In honor of Pacific Islander Heritage month, class will flow through principles of space, rhythm, and dynamics to build relationships with elemental entities within and outside our human form. Breath and Connectivity to Ocean will be central as we articulate and navigate exploring range of movement and clarity of movement intention.
